Walter A. Hicinbothem of Levittown died Friday, March 26, 2010, at the Delaware Valley Veterans Home in Philadelphia. He was 85.
Born in Bronx, N.Y., and formerly of Linden, N.J., Mr. Hicinbothem had been a resident of Levittown since 1963.
He was a U.S. Submarine veteran of World War II serving in the Navy.
Mr. Hicinbothem was employed with RCA Laboratories in Princeton, N.J., for more than 25 years until retiring in 1992.
He was an official with the Lower Bucks Swimming League and a submarine tour guide at Penns Landing.
He enjoyed bowling, softball and basketball.
Mr. Hicinbothem was the beloved husband of 61 years of Virgenia M. (Boucher) Hicinbothem.
He was the loving father of Eileen Andrews and her husband, David of Wilton, N.H., Peggy Bainbridge of Reading, Thomas Hicinbothem and his wife, Donna of Levittown, Patricia Lynch of Dale City, Va., Carol Rivera and her husband, Edward of Reading and David Hicinbothem and his wife, Stacy of Dallas, Texas. He will also be sadly missed by 13 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; his sister, Gertrude Baldwin of Linden, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, where a prayer service will be held at 4 p.m.
Family and friends are also invited to join a funeral procession forming at the funeral home at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, (leaving by 2:30 p.m.) for a 3 p.m. graveside service to be held at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
