(04-14-10) SAL Founding Member Walt Hicenbothem:

Its with deep regret that we inform everyone that Walt Hicenbothem, SAL Chairman from the early days in the '70's died on Friday, March 26.  Walt was another SAL giant whose management style was fatherly. Those of us who knew Walt will remember his calm, clear decisions delivered with a deep sonorous voice. He was well-known as a starter-referee among high school coaches in the Bux-Mont area and never passed up a chance to start an SAL championship or invitational.  No one was more generous with his time and talent than Walt, one of the best friends aquatics and SAL could ever have.  Rest in peace, friend.  SAL sends its condolences to his wife, Ginny, and his children and grandchildren.  We miss Walt, too.

Walt's obituary was in the Monday edition of the Bucks Courier Times for those interested in reading more about Walt and his life and contributions please click here.

For those that knew him it is a loss, for those that never had the opportunity to know him, it is a regret.

Here are some of Walt's Navy buddies who paid their respect to him at the service.
